Fawlty Towers

 

The brilliant sitcom Fawlty Towers was first transmitted on 19 September 1975. The only negative one could level at Fawlty Towers is that it's a shame there weren't more episodes (there were only 12).

John Cleese is superb as the irascible yet put upon Basil Fawlty, who suffers from bad karma. Basil, in theory, runs the seaside hotel Fawlty Towers, although in practice it is his wife Sybil who keep the place going.

They are aided by the relatively sane maid Polly, and Spanish porter Manuel, who struggles to understand English.
