Phoenix Nights

 

In Phoenix Nights the very funny and all-round good chap Peter Kay plays Brian Potter, the wheelchair-bound owner of the Phoenix Club. Potter, to use Channel 4's phrase, is determined to see it rise from the ashes, funded by punters 'with giros burning a hole in their shellsuits'.

The first series was called Peter Kay's Phoenix Nights and was spawned from an episode of That Peter Kay Thing. Phoenix Nights, in turn, spawned Max & Paddy's Road To Nowhere with the bouncer characters played by Peter Kay and Patrick McGuinness going off in a caravan.
